An ogre named Shrek lives in his swamp, but his cherished solitude is suddenly interrupted by an invasion of noisy fairy tale characters. They have all been expelled from their kingdoms by the evil Lord Farquaad. Determined to save his home, Shrek makes a deal with Farquaad and sets out to rescue Princess Fiona, who will be Farquaad's wife.
